Introduction to F&DMRC

The Fareham & District Model Railway Club welcomes all new members.

One of the special features of the club is the wide range of interests of its members. We model in all the principle scales and gauges, our members interests range from pre-grouping companies through to the privatisation scene of today. Standard gauge, light railways or narrow gauge. You name it, at least one of our members will have an interest in it.

The club’s aim is to provide a local environment for model railway and train enthusiasts of all backgrounds and levels of interest and experience to meet, discuss and take part in the hobby.

The clubs main activity is the design, building and operation of club-owned layouts and taking these to display and operate at exhibitions.

The member’s total experience covers many years and most aspects of modelling. These include the designing and building of base boards, track layouts. Leading onto wiring the layout, scenic work and control panels. With some members having experience in hand building track and points.

You can be involved in as much or as little as you want, on any of the various gauge layouts currently being worked on; from being involved in the design and build or just running your rolling stock. It is entirely up to you.

Normal club meetings are on a Monday and Thursday evening, some members choose to attend and work on the projects on other days and evenings but again it is entirely up to you.

We also exhibit the club layouts throughout the year and this will give you the opportunity to operate a layout and see other fine examples of layouts at these shows. The club also runs its own exhibition annually on the first weekend in October.

The real aim of the club is simply to enjoy the hobby and have fun.
