Fareham RailEx, what’s this, I hear you say?

RailEx Fareham is the annual model railway exhibition organised by Fareham & District Model Railway Club, one of the longest-established model railway clubs on the South Coast.

With a history spanning 60 years, RailEx has grown from a small club exhibition into one of the largest and best-attended model railway shows in southern England. The exhibition is firmly established as a regular and respected date in the national model railway exhibition calendar.

The event is held at Fareham Leisure Centre, a modern venue that allows RailEx to host a wide range of high-quality layouts, specialist traders, and demonstrations under one roof. A typical RailEx weekend features:

  • Over 20+ model railway layouts covering a wide range of scales, periods, and modelling styles.
  • A strong selection of specialist traders offering models, kits, tools, materials, and books.
  • Demonstrations and societies showcasing techniques, skills, and specialist interests within the hobby.

RailEx regularly attracts a weekend attendance of more than 2,500 visitors, including families, experienced modellers, and enthusiasts from across the UK. The exhibition prides itself on offering something for everyone, from inspirational layouts and expert modelling to friendly advice and hands-on demonstrations.

RailEx Fareham is organised and staffed entirely by volunteers from Fareham & District Model Railway Club, whose members bring decades of collective experience in model railway exhibition planning and delivery. The club is committed to maintaining the exhibition’s reputation for quality, variety, and a welcoming atmosphere for exhibitors and visitors alike.

Each year, RailEx continues to develop and evolve, while remaining true to its core aim:
to present an enjoyable, high-quality model railway exhibition that celebrates the hobby at every level.
